Fasting Easter Bread
For the leaven, we stir the yeast with lukewarm water. We add the sugar and the flour and we mix. We cover the bowl and we let the yeast boil for 20 minutes. For the dough, we mix all the ingredients (except flour) in a large bowl. We add the yeast and the flour and we knead well by hand. We put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it and let it double for about 1 hour. We shape the bread in the desired shape and we place them on a non-stick baking sheet. We let them expand, for about 30 minutes. We bake at 160 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes.
